MURAT KILIC (AUS)
(Stil Vor Talent / Reckless Republic)

Hailing from Sydney and raised by music-loving but strict Turkish parents, Murat’s early experience of dance music was strictly from the dance floor. As well he is the founder of a record label and is owner, booker & operator of Sydney’s best recognised nightclub and after hours.

DJ

As a DJ, Murat is steadfast with over 10 years experience always armed with fresh music. His sets are creative and unique, often genre crossing between deep house, techno and disco. In his own words "At the end of the day, it is all about educating the crowd without boring them. Teaching people to appreciate new music whilst still getting them to dance themselves to oblivion". In the last few years, Murat has played in some of the noteworthy clubs around the world including Watergate Berlin, Electric Pickle Miami, the End London and further afield at Burning Man in the USA and Sunrise in Salvador, Brazil. With valuable deck time through his 8 year residency at Sydney after hours institution SPICE, his sets cater for the chin strokers and partygoers alike.

Matt Drake

Matt Drake

At 21 years of Age Matt Drake seems to be pulling the right strings. As a "qualified party starter" and a creator of good vibes matt is known by his love for EDM and his passion for standing behind those turning circles, whatever the time may be.

Within the past 12 to 18 months Matt has bloomed quite considerably proving his versatility as a house music DJ, claiming residencies at North Wollongong Pub and OneFiveOne, each venue with demand for DJs at opposing ends of the house music spectrum.

His involvement with house music industry has seen him spinning tunes supporting no only THMs parties but Harrison Moores Veuve Party @ The Bar Next Door to Samuels in Thirroul, Cav Smith's Sun Dazed Sundays on Oxford St, Syd and also the most recent Lair Lyf Fridays hosted by The Sideways DJs @ Towradgi Beach Hotel. He has also said to be seen sharing the faders with close friend Nick Lynar at The Five Islands Brew Co, a classy venue on the south-eastern side of Wollongongs CBD

Weather he is create digging at the brewery with Nick Lynar or playing under his other Alias "Dopamine" with James Benning he still loves and lives for playing house parties. He says "I still find a good old fashion house party kicks way harder than any club/pub"

Weapon Of Choice

"I learnt mixing on some old school decks I bought that had no bpm reader. Now if I play anywhere, my favourite bit of gear is the pioneer ddjsx midi controller. Some say it isn’t real djaying, but I say move with the technology. I’m more than capable on CDJs but the midi controller acts like the cdj 2000s but has sampling pads and more effects that add an extra element to my performance. Turning djing into something a little more than just beatmatching."

Gemma Van D

GEMMA VAN D

A multi-instrumentalist & graphic artist, Gemma takes an artistic sensitivity developed across years practicing instruments and acquired through an SAE education (Cert. III in Electronic Music Production), a gig diary across New Zealand and the East Coast of Australia spanning 13 years, and her ingrained love for electronic dance music. Her sound has constantly evolved now settling on the fence of deep dubby tech-house and jacking percussive house & techno. She's played alongside international acts such as Carl Craig, Lee Burridge, Jon Larner, Italoboyz, Junior Sanchez, DJ Heather, H – Foundation & Kazu Kimura.

Starting out as a vinyl junkie at the age of 15 in New Zealand when she first discovered house music, Gemma's first gig was only 6 months later at Christchurch's Heaven Nightclub, which lead her to play at several of the city's leading clubs & festivals. All this by the age of 17, Gemma moved to Brisbane in 2001 where she remained for the next 8 years playing residencies & guestspots all along the east coast of Queensland.

In 2009 Gemma's deep love for underground house music led her south to the thriving scene in Sydney where she has since played at Subsonic Music Festival, Golden Cage, The Box, Home, Strange Fruit, Sonido, Significant Others, Bunker, Bad Apple, Oscillate, Just:Wax, Mocean, Wildlife, S.A.S.H & DUST. Not confined to just music in her creativity, Gemma is also a talented graphic designer and has created collateral for nightclubs and events across Australia.

Claire Morgan

Claire Morgan

Claire is a vinyl junkie and music-maker who has spent the last decade gigging her way up and down the eastern seaboard of Australia and across the Pacific in New Caledonia. Establishing herself in Brisbane, she later moved to Sydney and then onto Melbourne and has held residencies, guested and headlined at most major clubs, parties and festivals in all three capital cities.

Claire graduated with a Masters degree at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, specialising in film scoring/composition. Outside of DJing she composes music for film and television and has written & produced everything from ambient electronic music through to orchestral scores. A remix on Melbourne's hAUL Music garnered favour and chart action from international luminaries and local DJs alike.

Both in the setup for an array of international house and techno elite or controlling the party at her own speed, Claire is a serious DJ, bringing an organic, soulful, melodic and groove-heavy heat to the party with her own unique selections and precision control at the mixer. To date, she has played with the biggest names on the planet, including Octave One, Carl Craig, Aril Brikha, Vince Watson, Efdemin, Fred P, Kirk Degiorgio, Rick Wilhite, Mathew Dear (Audion), Daniel Bell (DBX), Mathew Jonson, Derrick May, Miss Kittin and Joris Voorn.
Claire recently relocated to Berlin, where she has already started gigging locally and abroad in Czech Republic.

Paul Danger

My name is Paul Danger.
I like to play house by open fires, listen to techno whilst taking long walks on the beach and drink beer as I mix mnml.

DJ or Producer

DJ.

Describe Your Sound

I know this is a cliché but I enjoy almost everything, from heavy techno through to disco. My main requirements are that it has a good groove and makes you want to shake.

Where you play regularly

I currently play regularly at the Brewery and have been doing some guest spots at Samuel’s in Thirroul with the Laze crew this summer. Both gigs have been great and provided an opportunity to play a diverse mix of fun tunes. Beyond that I am really looking forward to playing at Too & Fro as part of the Laze crew!
In the past I have been involved with Phantoms DJ’s and Head’s Up! who helped to bring an array of dance music talent to Wollongong including Lee Curtiss, Dyed Soundorom, Housemeister, DJedjotronic and Treasure Fingers.

Favourite Night Spot/Venue

I have been enjoying one22 in Sydney quite a bit over the last year or so. Chinese Laundry always books respectable acts also.
However it is always great to visit local parties and one offs to hear some great tunes and meet with likeminded people.

Weapon of choice.

I would say I am partial to Allen and Heath mixers, especially the Xone 92 which I find very nice to use. Apart from that anything goes; the medium through which you play the tunes doesn’t matter nearly as much as the tune selection itself.

Some artists/tunes you’re into at the moment.

Boddika
Joy Orbison
Jensen Interceptor
Light Year
Lone
Blawan
Basically anything on R&S

… I could go on for some time.

Simon Caldwell

Simon Caldwell

Simon Caldwell is one of a handful of DJ's whose name adds a certain integrity to an event. Playing since the early 1990’s to beer drinkers, bum shakers and radio listeners alike, he has managed to avoid the stifling 'style' classification so many other DJ's trap themselves into, keeping himself free to draw on his varied loves of deep, soulful house, techno, funk, jazz, electro, booty, hip hop and anything else which catches his ear. Simon has supported a list of internationals longer than your arm, from James Brown to Grace Jones to Derrick Carter and Moodymann. He currently holds down Monday Sunset on FBI Radio, and is resident/co-promoter of Mad Racket, a Sydney underground party institution.

Lee M Kelsall

LEE M KELSALL BIO

“A lot of things have changed” says fast rising UK born, Australia based producer Lee M Kelsall. It was with ‘On the Road’ that LMK first got noticed though. He sent the track to Lee Foss for feedback but the Hot Creations hero quickly replied asking to sign the track to Hot Waves. The compilation featuring "On the Road" became a number one selling new release on Beatport and also led the legendary "Nervous Records" (NYC) scouting Lee M Kelsall and signing him on under their Management Worldwide.

LMK is now back working hard in the studio with future releases on Kerri Chandlers Madtech and Nervous Records (NYC) in 2013

LMK has recently DJ'ed across the World including everywhere from Sonar (Barcelona) to Hideout (Croatia), Ministry of Sound (Egypt) to Space (Ibiza) for Carl Cox....Of course not forgetting the Big UK Festivals such as Creamfields, Glade and Global Gathering

With his Sound in the Club, the same as in the Studio - LMK is not one to stick to a certain genre... expect anything from House, Disco and Garage slip in and out of this man’s sets.

As DJ support continues to pour in from the likes of Jamie Jones, DJ T, Maya Jane Coles, Solomun, Crazy P, Miguel Campbell, Lee Foss, David August and many more

Lee M Kelsall is officially one of the New School House Heroes.

Lachlan Holland

Lachlan Holland has been championing the sounds of quality electronic music in Wollongong for over a decade. His radio show "Excursions" on i98fm recently hit the 300 weekly episodes milestone, through which has has quietly been pushing club sounds from around the world, quirky beats and futuristic soul since 2007. He has been putting on deep house parties since 2002, a time when dance music was barely accepted in his hometown (let alone the deeper variety).

After and enlightening jaunt living in San Francisco in 2008-09 he turned to production via his alias, Hober Mallow, and has had several releases via YesYes Records, Big Village and TRL. He has also been behind a series of well-recieved edits and reworks of classic house and disco music, finding favor with fans and enthusiasts in many places. Since relocating to Sydney in 2010, he has held down a number of regular spots around the city, as well as maintaining several weekly residencies in Wollongong.

Working as a full time club DJ over ten years, his sets and tastes have always remained eclectic and guided by the needs of the dancefloor. However, the rich club sounds of both Chicago and Detroit, as well as the feeling of classic disco are the central line that guides his sound, both in the club and in the studio. He has hosted and supported an extensive cross-section of the best DJ's both from Australia, and from around the world.

MITCHELL FOWLER & GARY BENNETT

MITCHELL FOWLER + GARY BENNETT

Mitchell and Gary have been Djing separately for a while now but over the past year and half they got together through their mutual love for house music.
These bright young underground house DJ's hail from the UK and have been impressing in clubs though out London and Kent, and more recently Australia.

Being spoon fed 90s house music from his older sister, Mitchell knew as soon as he had enough pocket money he wanted to get some turntables. Since then he found a love for playing to a crowd, playing at clubs and pirate radio's stations from a young age. When he moved to Kent from London he met up with Gary.

Working two seasons in Ibiza saw Gary develop a love for deep and dark house and techno. In his early teens, gary got his first set of turntables, playing any records he could get his hands on, garage, drum & bass, house and even some 80's pop.

2012 saw them play alongside some heavyweights in the house scene such as INFINITY INK, BUTCH, FLASHMOB, LEE BRINX, COZZY D, JOHNNY MIKES, REBEL, DJ W!LD, NO ARTIFICIAL COLOURS, MICHAEL JANSON, CLAIRE RIPLEY, ALEXIS RAPHAEL, SIS....It also saw them start up their own event and with the help for a couple others, RETOX SUNDAYS has gone from strength to strength.

Retox sundays was started last April with just one thing in mind - to throw a decent sunday day rave. Since that first ever event nothing has got in their way, not even the police when the second event got shut down!…Retox sundays has not even reached it's first birthday and have already had some big names grace the decks including No artificial colours(Akbal/Nurvous), Lee Brinx(Lower east) and headlining the next event is Mr nice guy himself JESSE PEREZ(hot creations/Mr nice guy records)

Their musical influence spans the whole spectrum of house music and beyond, adapting to any style this duo know how to get you dancing.
